Hobo arrived at Stone Acres 10-2-2000, as an orphaned kitten... We
estimated his age at about 2 weeks or less... His eyes were open, but
his teeth had not broken thru, yet...
He was found in the middle of the street in the wee hours of the morning, in town. Mama kitty was no where to be found! It took a bit of getting used to, (this new arrangement) for both of us! Surely I was not his 'mama' & in all my years around so very many critters, I had not raised an orphan kitten, this small, (goats are alot easier, & they do not have claws:) It took about 3-4 days of encouragement that he finally took to the bottle, quite well:) (It has really amazed me how quick he took to a cat box, when it was time, a month or so old, thank goodness:) Now of course, Hobo thinks that I AM 'mama' & he of course is PRECIOUS:)) The next major step will be to introduce him to all the other critters. Peanut our house dog has already stated her objections! She is sooo jealous. We also have a rottweiler (Nikki) that would like to mother him. Nikki also thinks she is a mother to our baby goat kids as they arrive. |
